Cineskate: What happens when you mount your skateboard on wheels?
In the world of movies, when we see a "dolly shot" (a video taken by a camera on wheels that is driving around the scene in an arc), we are reminded that we are watching a cinematic production.
Although traditional dollies are expensive, the Cineskate product is more affordable for so called "newbies" to video.
The Cineskate is essentially a tripod on wheels, which allows for smooth movement of a camera across a floor.
According to Gizmodo, the tripod can be difficult to control at slow speeds, but works pretty well at faster speeds.
The Cineskate is portable, lightweight, and fun to use. The only downside is that the wheels are so small you can only use them on smooth surfaces. Here is what it is from Gizmodo:
Tripod: Gorillapod Focus
Head: Joby Ballhead X
Weight Limit: 5 lbs.
Included Accessories: Wheel bag
Price: $285 from Cinetics Store
Gizmodo Ranking: 3.5 Stars
